Priyanka Chaturvedi first congratulated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and said that this is her ninth consecutive budget, which is an achievement in itself. He said that the responsibility of deciding the direction of the country’s economy is in the hands of the Finance Minister.

There should be no focus on electoral states
He clearly said that he hopes that the Union Budget will not focus much on election-bound states. The budget should be such that it is equally beneficial for every state and every citizen.

Middle class should get relief
Priyanka Chaturvedi said that there should be such steps in the budget which will increase the savings in people’s income. With this, people can spend on their daily needs as well as on children’s education, health and future savings.

Need for balance in tax system
He also raised the issue of imbalance between personal income tax and corporate tax. He said that today personal income tax has become a major source of income for the government, while common people are already paying GST and other indirect taxes. In such a situation, re-review of the tax system is necessary.

Budget should be for the country, not for elections
Priyanka Chaturvedi sarcastically said that the budget should not be limited to symbols or election messages only. He said that the Finance Minister should not present an election budget, but a budget that is balanced in the interest of the country and takes everyone along.

Akhilesh Yadav also targeted
Taking aim at the government, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that what should be expected from the budget of a government from which there is no hope. He said that this budget is made only for 5 percent of the people and raised the question whether the government has lived up to the promises made in its manifesto or not.
