When lakhs of people had come to bid farewell to their beloved leader ‘Ajit Dada’ in Baramati, Maharashtra, thieves took advantage of this tragic occasion and committed a major crime. A shocking incident of theft of a gold chain during a funeral has come to light.

On January 28, Deputy Chief Minister of the state Ajit Pawar died tragically in a plane crash. He was cremated with full state honors in the grounds of Vidya Pratishthan located in Baramati. Lakhs of people from every corner of Maharashtra had reached Baramati for the last darshan and there was an atmosphere of mourning in the entire city.

Chain snatched from the neck of 15 people

Taking advantage of this huge crowd, a gang of thieves targeted people. According to the information, gold chains were stolen from the necks of about 15 people. The value of the stolen jewelery is estimated to be around Rs 25 to 30 lakh.

Meanwhile, some suspected thieves were caught red-handed by the citizens, while some of the accused were handed over to the police.

8000 policemen were deployed

The special thing is that about 8 thousand policemen were deployed in Baramati that day. Despite this, due to such a big theft incident, questions are being raised on the police system.

On the complaint of the victim citizens, a case has been registered at Baramati Taluka Police Station. Police have registered a case against Mohammad Yunus, Rajkumar Athawale, Ejaz Mirawale, Mohammad Siraj, Balu Botre and two other accused.

Displeasure among the people of Baramati

At present, all the accused are being interrogated thoroughly. On one hand, the atmosphere was very emotional during the funeral of Ajit Pawar, while on the other hand, thieves were busy stealing gold chains from people’s necks. This incident has spread huge resentment in Baramati city.
