Deputy Chairman reprimanded for calling him ‘friend’

On 3 February 2026, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned thrice. When the House started at 3 pm, Deputy Chairman Krishna Prasad Teneti reminded of discipline in the House. When a member was addressing the chair as ‘friend’, he said, ‘What did you just say… what is this, friend… this is Parliament, Lok Sabha… you cannot call the chair friend.’

This comment was made while pointing towards Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader KC Venugopal, which created further stir in the House.

After this the House was adjourned till tomorrow. Besides, 8 MPs have also been suspended from the Lok Sabha for the entire session for throwing papers on the chair. These include 7 Congress MPs Amarinder Singh Raja Wading, Prashant Parole, Hibi Eden, Gurjit Aujla, Dean Koriakos, Manickam Tagore, Kiran Kumar Reddy and a CPI(M) MP S Venkatesan.

Rahul-Priyanka’s demonstration on suspension of MPs

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are protesting outside the House on suspension of MPs. Suspended Congress MP Raja Brar told ABP News that as soon as the names of PM, China and Doklam came up, the BJP MPs started making noise. The Speaker switched off the mike and asked another MP to speak. We said this is wrong. Brar said, ‘By suspending us you want to suppress the voice of the opposition.’

Uproar over MM Naravane’s unpublished book

On February 3, 2026, at 2 pm, Rahul presented the article from the unpublished book of the former Army Chief in the House and said, ‘Let me speak.’ As soon as he said this, NDA MPs started interrupting. Today he kept trying to speak for 14 minutes. General Naravane’s book has not been published yet, but some excerpts came in news agencies and media in December 2023.

A magazine recently published an article on this book, in which questions have been raised on the political decisions during the Galwan conflict of 2020. Rahul Gandhi certified this and said that the information he has is correct. Congress says that the government is misusing the rules to silence the opposition leader.
