Today was a very important day for about 13 lakh students of the country. National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key and response sheet of JEE Main 2026 Session-1. With this the long standing wait of the students has ended. Now students can estimate how their performance has been by combining their given answers and correct answers.
JEE Main is one of the biggest engineering entrance exams in the country. Through this, the way for admission in IIT, NIT, IIIT and other technical institutes opens. In such a situation, the release of the answer key is very important for the students.
Where and how to see the answer key
NTA has uploaded the answer key and response sheet on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Students can login with the help of their application number and password. As soon as they login, their response sheet and answer key will be visible on the screen. In the response sheet, students can see which option they had chosen in which question in the exam, while in the answer key, the correct answer to each question has been given. By combining both, students can calculate their own probable marks.
opportunity to lodge objection
With the release of the answer key, NTA has also given the students an opportunity to lodge objections. If any student feels that the answer to any question has been given wrong, then he can lodge an objection on it. According to NTA, students can file objections on the provisional answer key from February 4 to February 6. A fee of Rs 200 will have to be paid for filing objection on each question. This process is completely online.
What did NTA say
NTA has made it clear that all the objections lodged by the students will be examined by subject experts. The result will be declared on the basis of the final answer key prepared after scrutiny. NTA also said that no student will be told separately whether his objection was accepted or not. Only the final answer key will be valid for all students.
when was the exam held
JEE Main 2026 Session-1 examination was conducted from January 21 to January 29, 2026. This examination was computer based and was conducted in two shifts. The morning shift ran from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift ran from 3 pm to 6 pm. Students took part in this examination for admission to B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning courses.
Result date fixed
NTA has already made it clear that the result of JEE Main 2026 Session-1 will be declared on 12 February 2026. Along with the result, students will also know their score, percentile and All India Rank. After this, eligible students will be able to apply for JEE Advanced and further counseling process will start.
