Indian Railways is going to make a major change in the boarding rules related to train travel, which will have a direct impact on crores of passengers. In fact, after the implementation of the new system, if a passenger does not board the train from his scheduled boarding station, then now the TTE will not wait for him till the next station. As soon as the train moves from the boarding station and the passenger is not found present in his seat, his seat will be immediately considered vacant. Under the new rules, during TTE checking, first you will have to immediately enter the note turn up on your handheld device. This would mean that the concerned passenger has not boarded from the station. As soon as the entry is made, that seat will be considered vacant in the system and TTE will not have any option to keep it in reserve.
Waiting and RAC passengers will benefit
Passengers traveling on waiting and RAC tickets will get the most benefit from this change in Railways. As soon as the seat is declared vacant, the railway system will automatically allot that berth to the next waiting list passenger. As soon as the seat is allotted, a message will be sent to the passenger’s mobile, through which he will get immediate confirmation.
Instructions to CRIS for changes in software
The Railway Ministry has given instructions to make necessary changes in the railway software to implement this new system. Responsibility for this has been assigned to the Railway Information System. After the system is updated, this rule can be implemented in trains across the country, which will enable better management of vacant seats.
Caution has to be taken while changing boarding station
According to railway data, there are about 3 to 5 percent passengers in every train who either cancel the journey or are not able to reach their boarding station on time. According to experts, now such passengers will need to be more cautious. If for any reason the passenger boards from a next station instead of the scheduled station, it will be necessary to change the boarding station at least 24 hours before the chart is prepared. If this is not done, the seat will go to someone else and the passenger will not be able to claim it. Regarding this, Railways believes that this decision is a big step towards digitalization. This will make the process of seat allotment completely transparent and delays and complaints regarding vacant seats will be reduced. Earlier, waiting passengers used to face trouble by waiting till the next TTE station, but now with real time updates, passengers will be able to get seats faster.
