Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has been allotted ‘Devagiri’ bungalow in Malabar Hill, Mumbai as the official residence. This allocation has been made under the order issued by the General Administration Department of the Government of Maharashtra. This decision has been taken recently after taking oath as Deputy Chief Minister.
Let us tell you that the political importance of Devagiri bungalow has already been special, because late Deputy CM Ajit Pawar had resided in this bungalow during his long tenure. He served here in both the roles of Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and now this bungalow has been officially registered in the name of Sunetra Pawar.
Which departments does Sunetra Pawar hold?
Sunetra Pawar took oath as Deputy Chief Minister after the death of Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in Baramati in Pune district last week. Ajit Pawar had the charge of Finance, State Excise, Sports and Minority Welfare departments. He was also the minister in-charge of Pune and Beed districts. According to sources, Sunetra Pawar has also been appointed minister in-charge of these two districts. He has been assigned the Excise, Sports and Minority Welfare departments, while the charge of the Finance Ministry will remain with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Can contest assembly elections from Baramati!
Sunetra Pawar took oath as the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra on January 31, which is being considered a historic moment in the politics of the state. He has been given the Excise, Sports, Minority Development and Auqaf departments, while the Finance and Planning departments have not been given. She has resigned from Rajya Sabha membership and is currently not a member of any House of Assembly. It is believed that she may contest the by-election from Baramati assembly seat represented by her late husband.
