Murshidabad vioolence: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (17 April 2025) requested Governor CV Anand Bose to postpone the proposed tour of the violence affected Murshidabad district. He said that the situation is gradually becoming normal and measures are being taken to restore trust.
Governor should not visit Murshidabad now- Mamta
CM Mamta Banerjee said in the state secretariat, “I will request non-local people not to visit Murshidabad right now. I will appeal to the Governor to wait a few more days as measures are being taken to restore confidence. The situation is becoming normal. ”The Chief Minister said that he has decided not to visit the affected areas at the moment so that the competition to prove himself big politically can be avoided.
‘The situation is not favorable right now’
Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee said, “I could have gone there, but then other people would say that they would also go, but the situation is not favorable yet. An SIT has been formed to investigate unrest in Murshidabad. I will visit the district at the right time. “He said,” The state government will reconstruct the houses of the victims. The administration is trying to restore the trust of the people of Murshidabad. I will request the Governor not to visit the riot -affected district right now.
Will definitely visit Murshidabad- Governor
Governor Bose, however, said that he wants to visit the district to assess the ground situation. The Governor said after meeting some victims of Murshidabad violence in Kolkata, “I will definitely visit Murshidabad. I will go to the area to see the ground situation myself. I will see the case objectively. The situation has been brought under control. We should take more steps to prevent such events in future. The people of the area have demanded a BSF camp there.
Meanwhile, CM Banerjee criticized the Center for expansion in the jurisdiction of the Border Security Force (BSF) in the border areas and said that the move has weakened the coordination between central and state agencies. He said, “Earlier, an area of 15 km from the border was under the jurisdiction of Border Security Force (BSF). Now the Union Home Minister has increased it to 50 kilometers.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “Earlier we used to have information about the objective of people coming to the state from other countries and their visit. Now, the Ministry of Home Affairs does not share such figures under the current Union Home Minister or does not allow our police to collect it. ”
CM spoke on the involvement of elements from across the border in violence
When asked about the news of the involvement of elements from across the border in the violence, he questioned, “BSF monitors the border, CISF land port.” Why are we being dragged into it? ”The Trinamool Congress supremo appealed to the people to maintain peace and said that some political elements are trying to take advantage of the situation before the elections to be held next year.
He said, “Some criminals are used to incite riots. Nowadays a lot can be done with money. At such a time, some leaders want to serve their interests from this situation. I want my country and state to be peaceful. There is no need for rallies or meetings right now.
‘Conspirations occur when elections are close’
CM Mamta Banerjee said that such frightening conspiracies are always held when the election comes close. He alleged, “When elections come closer, such a game starts a year in advance. The atmosphere is spoiled by using agencies. I have revealed the name of the person responsible for this yesterday. I care about people, not anyone else. ”
The CM of West Bengal, describing several reports from Murshidabad, alleged that the BJP is using its IT cell to spread wrong information. He claimed, “BJP has many agencies working with his money. We also have an IT cell, but it is very weak. It does not have so much strength. BJP’s IT cell has a craze about West Bengal, 99 percent of the news they spread are fake.
