The ashes of former Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar were immersed in Prayagraj Sangam on Sunday (8 February 2026). Ajit Pawar’s son Jai Pawar immersed his father’s ashes in the Sangam with full rituals. During this, the priests performed rituals and the bereaved people paid their respects and prayed to Mother Ganga.
Family members and party workers looked emotional during the immersion of ashes. Ajit Pawar’s family reached Prayagraj from Baramati by chartered flight. The family arrived at Prayagraj Airport at around 11 am on Sunday morning.
Son Jai Pawar came out of the airport carrying the ashes
Jai Pawar, son of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, came out of the airport barefoot carrying the urn. During this time, the eyes of the people present appeared moist after seeing the box of bones in their hands. Ajit Pawar’s ashes were given a final farewell in the presence of all the people.
Ajit Pawar’s family left from the airport to Sangam in a long convoy. Meanwhile, the ritual of immersion of ashes was completed at the VIP ghat of Prayagraj Sangam. During this period many senior leaders of BJP and NCP were present.
Ashti Kalash Yatra was taken out
Under the leadership of NCP youth wing national president Dheeraj Sharma, Asthi Kalash Yatra was taken out from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. This Ashti Kalash Yatra passed through 12 states. The yatra concluded at Sangam on Sunday (February 8) in the presence of son Jai Pawar and family.
Let us tell you that NCP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar died in the Baramati plane crash. Four other people also died in this accident. On January 29, Ajit Pawar’s mortal remains were cremated at Vidya Pratisthan Ground in Baramati. This accident happened due to the crash of his plane. After Ajit Pawar, his wife Sunetra Pawar was made the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
