Stock Market Today: The first trading session of the week in the Indian stock market on Monday, February 9, started on a positive note. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the green.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened at 84,177.51 with a rise of 597.11 points or 0.71 per cent, while the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 25,888.70 with a rise of 195.00 points or 0.76 per cent.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 83,975 points, up by 394 points. Whereas Nifty 50 jumped 136 points and was trading at the level of 25,830.

How was the market on Friday?
There was a rise in the Indian stock market on the trading day of Friday, February 6 and both the major benchmark indices closed trading in the green. Sensex rose by 266.47 points or 0.32 percent to 83,580.40 points, while NSE Nifty 50 jumped by 50.90 points or 0.20 percent to end the trading day at 25,693.70.
ITC, Kotak Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance and PowerGrid were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Adani Port, Asian Paint and HCL were taking place.
There was a rise in the shares of Nifty 100, Nifty Bank, Nifty FMCG. There was a decline in the shares of Nifty Midcap 100, Nifty Smallcap 100, Nifty IT and Nifty Auto. On Friday’s trading day, 13 shares from BSE basket closed in the green and 17 shares recorded a decline.
