Bangladesh Elections 2026 Voting: ‘Voting is being conducted forcibly, these are fake elections…’, Sheikh Hasina’s party angry over Bangladesh elections, made this demand

Voting for general elections is taking place in Bangladesh today (12 February). Regarding this election, Sheikh Hasina’s party Awami League said that to save Bangladesh from disintegration, we appeal to the international community that these are sham elections. In the atmosphere of fake poll, there is terror of mob lynching and brutal torture.

Awami League says that these sham elections are not just to oust Awami League, but this fake poll is ousting many such political parties which oppose radical ideology and stand for a liberal country. Lakhs of voters are being threatened with death just for their political views related to Awami League and they are being made victims of riots by the government to intimidate and torture them, due to which they are being forced to vote against their will. This is a well-planned conspiracy to increase voter turnout.

Many journalists and activists were also sent to jail
According to Awami League, the atmosphere of this fake poll is filled with terror of mobs like lynching and brutal torture. The jails are not only filled with Awami League supporters. Along with this, many journalists, activists and anti-war crime campaigners have been put in jail on false murder charges. Before this ridiculous poll, lakhs of minorities have been pushed to the brink of extinction, because they have been given complete freedom for murder and violence by calling them supporters of Awami League. The future of women, who constitute half of the voters, is very bad because in the name of building democracy, they have been kept out of national policy making, which is very bad.

Large number of weapons stolen from police station
Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League says hundreds of police stations in Bangladesh were looted and thousands of weapons stolen from police stations have not yet been recovered, while convicted militants were released from jails even before the election schedule was announced. On the other hand, anti-Awami League organizations including Jamaat-e-Islami have been given free rein to carry out extreme and dangerous violence. In the name of referendum, Yunus government wasted public money and campaigned for ‘yes’ vote, which is a clear indication of deciding the outcome instead of trusting the public’s decision. This referendum, which seeks to end secularism, is a completely unconstitutional act, aimed at erasing the Constitution which was built with the blood of millions of war heroes.

Awami League says that we appeal to foreign observers and all international stakeholders to point out the shortcomings and gross misuses behind this work without any discrimination. Justifying this work by relying on Yunus’ tall talk will push the country into instability for a long time.
