BNP has emerged as the largest party in the 13th national parliamentary elections held in Bangladesh. Well-known faces of Bangladesh politics have faced defeat in this election.   • Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ghulam Parwar has faced defeat. He contested the election on the election symbol of scales. He got a total of 144,956 votes. He was defeated by BNP candidate Mohammad Ali Asghar Lobby. Mohammad Ali won this election by a slight margin of 2,702.
  • Sarjis Alam, a popular face among young voters, has faced defeat in this election. He made a lot of headlines this year. He was defeated by International Affairs Secretary Barrister Navshad Zameer. Navshad Jamir got 22,134 votes with the paddy bundle symbol, while Sarjis Alam got 20,199 votes.
  • Tasneem Zara was a well-known face in social activism and social media. He was defeated by BNP candidate Habibur Rashid by a huge margin.
  • Senior leader of the Islamic movement in the country, Nayaab-e-Amir Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim contested elections from two seats. These include Barisal 5 and Barisal 6. He had to face defeat from both the seats. He was defeated by BNP candidate Mujibur Rahman Sarwar from Barisal-5 by a margin of 40 thousand. Whereas in Barisal-6, he was defeated by BNP’s Abul Hussain Khan by a margin of more than 80 thousand.
  • The most talked about election of the country took place in Dhaka-8. Here NCP’s Nasir Uddin Patwari faced BNP’s Mirza Abbas. Mirza Abbas defeated him by a slight margin of more than 5 thousand votes.
  • Rangpur-3 Jatiya Party chief GM Kader was defeated by Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mahbubur Rehman Belal.
  • Senior Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Shishir Manir lost his election from Sunamganj-2. He was defeated by a margin of more than 40 thousand votes.
  • This election proved to be very negative for Bangladesh Party candidate Barrister Fuad, known as Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan. He had to face defeat in Barisal-3 by 21 thousand votes. Zainal Abedin of BNP lost this election.
  • Mujibur Rahman lost in his own constituency. He was defeated by BNP candidate Professor Zainal Abedin. Mamunul Haq, the face of religious politics and candidate of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, was defeated by BNP’s Bobby Hajjaj from Dhaka-13 seat.
  • Apart from these, Mahmudur Rahman Mannabogra has faced a crushing defeat. He got less than 4 thousand votes. His bail was confiscated. In this election, BNP candidate Mir Shahe Alamat won by more than 1 lakh 45 thousand votes. Abdul Latif Siddiqui contested as an independent candidate from Tangail-4, but he had to face defeat from BNP’s Lutfar Rahman Mateen.
  • Jamaat candidate Saiful Alam contested the elections from Dhaka-12. He defeated BNP supported alliance candidate Saiful Haq by a huge margin.
