Maharashtra politics heated up over a controversial statement by Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal. Actually, Sapkal compared Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with Tipu Sultan, on which CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed his displeasure and strongly condemned his statement.

In fact, Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal had said in one of his statements that just as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj gave the idea of bravery and independence, in the same way Tipu Sultan also fought against the British. According to him, Tipu Sultan should also be given equal respect as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
After this statement, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took a strong stand and said that this statement of the state president of Congress is condemnable. He said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fought for the protection of Swarajya and the safety of the people, whereas there are many controversial things in history regarding Tipu Sultan. The Chief Minister said that no matter how many shoes they lick in the greed for votes, Maharashtra will not tolerate it.
Tipu Sultan’s photo also found in the office of Deputy Mayor in Malegaon
In Malegaon, Maharashtra too, a political battle is going on over the picture of Tipu Sultan. Tipu Sultan’s photo was installed in the office of the Deputy Mayor in Malegaon Municipal Corporation. On which many organizations and leaders of the city protested. After which many Hindutva organizations including Shiv Sena and some corporators also started expressing their displeasure over the matter, due to which the administration had to step back and the photo was removed.
The protesting organizations say that it is not right to put such pictures in a government office. After which the Municipal Secretary ordered to remove the photo. The administration says that this step has been taken to avoid controversy.
