Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council (UP Board) has issued new and strict instructions for the high school and intermediate examinations starting from February 18. The board has specifically said that if money or notes are found in the answer sheet (copy) of any student, then action will be taken not only on the student but also on the teacher (room invigilator) posted on duty in the examination room. What is the whole matter?
According to the information, it has happened many times in the past that students keep some money in their copy during the examination. They think that this will make the teachers happy and give higher marks. At the same time, some students write in the copy that Guruji, I am going to get married. This money is kept for sweets. Please pass me. This is completely wrong. The Board considers this as cheating or an attempt to take unfair advantage. This affects the integrity of the examination.
The board took this decision
UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh has given instructions in all the districts that strictness should be maintained at the examination centres. The center administrator and teachers have to warn the students in advance not to keep money, notes, chits or any such thing inside the copy. Room invigilators will have to check students’ copies carefully during the examination. If anything wrong is found in the copy, immediate action should be taken.
What will happen if money is found in the copy?
What if money is found while checking copies or collecting answer sheets? Regarding such matters, the board has clearly said that such money will be immediately deposited in the government treasury. This information will have to be given to DIOS and concerned officials. This will be considered cheating under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. At the same time, strict legal action like cancellation of examination, fine or other punishment will be taken against the concerned student.
Action will also be taken against teachers
The most important thing is that negligence on the part of teachers will not be tolerated. If money is found in the copy, it will be considered that the room inspector did not perform his duty properly. They could not keep an eye on the students or conduct searches properly. In such a situation, there will be a departmental inquiry against the teacher and he may be punished.
