Board of Peace: US President Donald Trump on Sunday announced $ 5 billion to rebuild the areas devastated by the war in Gaza through his newly created ‘Board of Peace’. Trump said that the member countries of this board are ready to send thousands of soldiers to maintain peace and police force in Gaza.
Trump wrote in his social media post, “The Board of Peace will prove to be the largest international organization in history and I am proud to be its president.” These promises from the board members will be formally announced at the board’s first meeting in Washington on Thursday.
Who will help?
It is not yet clear which of the more than 20 member countries will come to the meeting. Trump also did not say which country would send reconstruction or security forces to Gaza. Indonesia’s military has said that 8,000 troops could be deployed for peacekeeping and humanitarian missions in Gaza by the end of June.
Who will attend the first meeting?
It is not yet known how many board members will attend the first meeting. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who recently met Trump at the White House, will not attend this meeting. Initially this board was created only to stop the Israel-Hamas war. But now this board is also planning to solve the major crises of the world. Experts believe that this can become America’s alternative to the United Nations Security Council. Many European countries and other US allies are hesitant to join the plan because they fear it could conflict with the Security Council.
Where will the meeting take place?
Trump said that Thursday’s meeting will be held at the US Institute of Peace. The State Department had said in December that it would now be called ‘Donald J Trump US Institute of Peace’. But this place is still the subject of a lawsuit by former employees and officials of the institute. Last year, the American administration had fired most of the employees of this institute.
Reconstruction of Gaza is a big challenge
