Research has revealed that if the injured are taken to the hospital within the first hour of the accident i.e. the golden hour, then about 50 percent of deaths can be prevented. For this purpose, 112 helpline has been linked to the emergency response system. Road accident victims, passers-by or any person present at the spot can dial 112 to get information about the nearest designated hospital and seek ambulance help.
