Central government filed a sealed report in Delhi High Court
Delhi High Court reviewed the intelligence report submitted by the Central Government in a sealed envelope. Amrit Wilson had challenged the decision of the Central Government
Amrit Wilson is an 82-year-old British-Indian citizen. In the year 2023, the Central Government had canceled her OCI card saying that she has been involved in anti-India activities and propaganda against the sovereignty of the country many times. Wilson challenged this decision in the Delhi High Court. He says that the government’s decision is arbitrary and was taken without solid basis.
Wilson’s lawyer’s allegation notice was not sent
The lawyer appearing for Wilson argued that the show cause notice sent to his client was very vague and did not mention any concrete allegations. He said that Wilson’s articles and social media posts fall within the scope of freedom of expression. The lawyer appearing for the Central Government said that this matter is related to the integrity and sovereignty of India. He said that some information is public, while some inputs are related to intelligence agencies, which have been handed over to the court in sealed envelopes. After seeing the sealed report, the court said that the allegations are serious. The court has directed both the parties to file written arguments, now the next hearing of this case will be on August 27.
