A major accident took place in Dhading district of Nepal on Monday (23 February). A bus full of passengers fell into the river, due to which 18 people died and many were seriously injured. This bus was going from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The dead also include two foreign nationals, a man and a woman. However, no information has been received yet about which country he is from.
According to the report of ‘The Kathmandu Post’, Nepal Police had recovered 17 bodies, but after this a seriously injured person also lost his life. In this way the death toll reached 18. The remaining injured people have been admitted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment.
How did such a big accident happen?
According to local media reports, the bus was going from Pokhara to Kathmandu, but on the way, for some reason the driver lost control of the bus and due to this the bus fell into the Trishuli river. The accident happened at around 1.15 pm. The bus was passing through Benighat Rorank area of Dhading district. Official information regarding the cause of the accident has not been received yet.
What information did the officials give regarding the accident?
District Traffic Police Office, Dhading Chief Shishir Thapa said that the death toll has reached 18. Highway Rescue Management Committee Chairman Rajkumar Thakuri also reacted on this matter. He said, 25 injured passengers have been sent to the hospital for treatment. There were more than 35 passengers in the bus. Due to it being night, the rescue had to face a lot of difficulties. However, everyone was evacuated due to the help of Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and local people. Let us tell you that accidents have happened many times before in Nepal.
