Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has given clarification on the news of the crash of LCA Tejas fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The company has issued a statement saying that the Tejas fighter jet did not crash, which is being discussed, it was a minor technical problem on the runway during landing.
HAL posted on social media platform X and said, ‘Recent media reports have revealed the crash of Tejas fighter jet. There is no report of LCA Tejas crashing. This incident was a minor technical fault on the ground.
HAL further said, ‘LCA Tejas has the best safety record among the world’s high-tech fighter jets. As per standard procedure, this technical issue is being investigated in more detail. HAL and Indian Air Force (IAF) are working together on this problem, so that it can be resolved as soon as possible.
LCA Tejas maintains one of the world’s best safety records among contemporary fighter aircraft. As a standard operating procedure, the issue is being analyzed in depth and HAL is working closely with the Indian Air Force (IAF) for a speedy resolution.

There was a rumor about Tejas crash
Let us tell you that there were rumors of Indian Air Force (IAF) LCA Tejas fighter jet crashing during landing after a trainee flight. It was claimed that this accident happened on February 7 at a forward airbase on the Pakistan border, in which the pilot ejected himself and came out safely. HAL has now issued an official statement in this regard and termed the incident as a ‘rumour’.
Two jets were victims of accidents in the last two years
In March 2024, Tejas aircraft crashed in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, although the pilot ejected himself. Apart from this, in the year 2025 also, the incident of crash of Tejas fighter jet came to light during the Dubai Air Show. The pilot also lost his life in this accident. The investigation of this accident is still going on. At the same time, the Indian Air Force has ordered 180 MK1A fighter planes, but the delivery is delayed by two years.
How many Tejas are in service in India?
According to Defense Secretary RK Singh, 38 Tejas jets are in service in the Indian Air Force fleet. Around 80 are being manufactured, out of which 10 Tejas jets are ready for delivery. Apart from this, IAF has also ordered 97 fighter jets of LCA Tejas Mk-2 to HAL, which will be multi-role fighter aircraft. With its induction, the shortage of MiG 21 of the Indian Air Force will be fulfilled.
