Retail loan portfolio Rs 162 lakh crore
The pace of personal loans has seen a strong rise in the December quarter 2025. According to a report by TV 9 Bharatvarsha, total outstanding retail loans increased by 18.1 percent to Rs 162 lakh crore. Due to inflation, expenditure during festivals and GST changes, there has also been a rise in loans given against gold.
According to CRIF High Mark data, home loans have increased by 10.5 percent to Rs 43 lakh crore. Whereas in gold loans it has reached Rs 16.2 lakh crore with a sharp growth of 44.1 percent.
The personal loan segment also did not lag behind and outstanding loans increased by 11.6 percent to Rs 15.9 lakh crore. These figures clearly show that the debt of the people in the country is increasing.
Number of active accounts increased in home loan segment
Latest data related to home loan shows that customer participation in this segment is continuously increasing. According to CIC data, the number of active home loans increased by about 3.3 lakh. Due to which the average ticket size will also increase.
What is outstanding loan?
Outstanding loan is the total amount that you have taken as loan from the bank or any financial institution. Some part of which is still to be paid. This includes the remaining principal amount, interest accrued on it and various charges imposed by the bank.
If understood in simple words, this is the amount of money that you have to return to your loan giving bank or financial institution within a certain time.
