Especially for the youth, becoming a lieutenant in the Indian Army is considered a matter of pride. But this dream cannot be fulfilled only by enthusiasm, for this proper studies, proper preparation and strong intention are necessary. Can become officer through NDA
After 12th, you can directly move on the path of becoming an officer through the National Defense Academy i.e. NDA exam. For this it is necessary to have Physics, Chemistry and Maths in 12th. NDA examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission. There is a written examination in which questions related to mathematics and general knowledge are asked. After this there is SSB interview and medical examination. If you pass this exam, you are given three years of training. After completion of training, you can be appointed to the post of Lieutenant.
Technical entry scheme is also the way
If you have scored good marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in 12th, then you can also join the Army through Technical Entry Scheme i.e. TES. In this, selection is based on JEE Main marks. After this SSB interview is taken. Candidates going through this route get a chance in the technical branch.
One can become an officer through CDS exam
The biggest path after graduation is CDS exam. This examination is also conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. It is necessary to have a graduation degree from any recognized university. After passing the exam, there is SSB interview and medical examination. On selection, training is given and after that, appointment is made to the post of Lieutenant.
NCC Special Entry
If you have done NCC during college and have ‘C’ certificate, then there is a special opportunity for you. Graduation with at least 50 percent marks is necessary. There is no written examination in this entry, people are directly called for SSB interview.
Special opportunities for engineers and law graduates
The path to joining the technical branch in the army remains open for engineering students. Such candidates can apply through technical entry. Students studying law are also not behind. If you have completed LLB degree with at least 55 percent marks, then you can become a legal officer in the army through Judge Advocate General i.e. JAG entry.
Take care of age and fitness
To become an officer in the army, it is necessary to follow the age limit. Generally the age for NDA and TES should be between 16.5 to 19.5 years. Whereas for CDS the age is around 19 to 25 years. Along with this, physical fitness is very important. There are many tests like race, height, weight and eyesight. In SSB interview, your thinking, confidence, leadership ability and habit of working in a team is tested.
