On the second day of ABP News’ event Idea of India Summit, film director Christo Tomi, Titli director Kanu Bahl and director Aranya Sahay participated. Here he spoke in a session titled “How to Win Viewers – The Director’s Cut”. This discussion was moderated by actor Gul Panag.
Balance is important in storytelling
Aranya Sahay stressed the need for balance in storytelling. According to him, filmmakers should try to make something different every time, while also ensuring that the story seems familiar enough that the audience can connect with it. However, Kanu Bahl presented a different view. “Don’t think about the audience when you write,” he said, adding that he considers himself the first audience of his work.
Christo Tomi said that filmmakers often come out of film school with an idealistic mindset, but they must understand the audience’s niche and expectations. He said, “Audience is God,” and stressed the importance of staying connected with the audience.
Called the post-Covid era challenging
Film director Christo Tomi talked about the post-Covid era and said, ‘The time after Covid has been challenging. It took a long time for people to reach theatres. People did not want to go to the theatre.
Kanu Bahl writes films thinking about himself
Film director Kanu Bahl told that he writes films keeping himself in mind. He said, ‘When I write films, I first write thinking about myself. The first thing I think about is whether I am showing interest in the film I have written. I don’t think too much about outside people.
AI in movies What did Aranya Sahay say on the use of
Aranya Sahay expressed his opinion regarding the use of AI in films these days. he said,‘I don’t want AI to have too much impact on films, although the other side is that it also has its benefits. Ever since I started working on films, I have understood that because of AI, many things can be improved in terms of algorithms. I am more hopeful about this.
