Breast cancer cases are continuously increasing among women in India. According to recently revealed data, new cases are emerging every year at the rate of about 6 percent. This has been revealed in a study related to the Indian Council of Medical Research. Regarding this, experts say that not only due to age or family history, but bad lifestyle is also considered to be a major reason for increasing breast cancer in women. According to doctors, less sleep, constant stress and especially the fat accumulated around the stomach i.e. central obesity are now emerging as major risk factors. It is a matter of concern that now the cases of breast cancer are increasing rapidly even among women aged 35 to 50 years.

Less sleep increases the risk

Experts say that lack of sleep disturbs the natural biological clock of the body. This affects the level of melatonin hormone which helps in controlling estrogen and keeping the body’s immune system strong. When sleep is not complete for a long time, the body’s immunity can weaken and the power to eliminate abnormal cells also decreases. According to doctors, when less sleep is combined with obesity, stress and less physical activity, the risk increases further.

Belly fat is also dangerous

Not only weight gain but the fat accumulated around the stomach is considered more dangerous. According to experts, this fat produces elements that increase inflammation in the body, increases insulin resistance and also affects estrogen levels. After menopause, the main source of estrogen in women becomes body fat. In such a situation, abdominal fat can increase the risk of hormone receptor positive breast cancer. Doctors say that increasing waist area is not only a sign of obesity, but it is also a sign of metabolic stress and inflammation.

Cases increasing at young age

According to this report, breast cancer is being seen more in younger women in India than before. The reasons behind this are believed to be urban lifestyle, late marriage or motherhood, breastfeeding for less time, lack of sleep and obesity. Although age and genetic factors are still major factors, lifestyle-related factors are now increasingly influencing it. At the same time, doctors say that the risk of breast cancer cannot be completely reduced. But it can be reduced to a great extent with the right habits. These include regular and adequate sleep, controlling stress, reducing belly fat, increasing physical activity and adopting a balanced diet.
