Summer is about to start. In such a situation, the need for electricity is highest in summer. Especially in those houses where the family is large, electricity consumption is also high. In summer, AC, cooler, fan, fridge and other devices keep running continuously and the electricity bill at the end of the month puts people in trouble. In such a situation, many people are now installing solar panels on the roof of their houses, so that electricity expenditure can be reduced. At the same time, the central government is also encouraging people regarding solar panels. Due to this, the Central Government is running PM Surya Graha Free Electricity Scheme.

Under this scheme, the government gives subsidy on installing solar panels on the roof of houses. But many people have a question in their minds whether solar panels can be installed on the roof of the shop under this scheme or not. In such a situation, let us tell you today whether solar panels can be installed on the roof of the shop or not and what are the rules of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana.

Can solar panels be installed on the roof of the shop?

The scope of Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana is mainly limited to residential houses. The subsidy given by the government is available only to those people who have their own house in their name and who have a valid electricity connection. If a person is running a small shop in his house and the electricity connection is also domestic, then he can install solar panels on the roof of the house and avail the benefits of the scheme. But if the shop is completely commercial and a separate commercial electricity connection has been taken for it, then subsidy is not available under this scheme. In such a situation, a person can get solar panels installed at his shop, but he will have to bear the expenses himself. Government subsidy is only for domestic consumers.

How much subsidy is available?

Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana, different subsidies are available on solar systems of different capacities. For example, for a capacity of up to 1 kilowatt, the total subsidy is around Rs 30,000 per kilowatt, for up to 2 kilowatt, the total subsidy is around Rs 60,000, for a capacity of 3 kilowatt or more, the maximum subsidy is Rs 78,000. The subsidy amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account. After the approval of the installation and electricity distribution company, this money is sent through DBT.

How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana?

To take advantage of this scheme of the Central Government, people can apply by visiting the official website of the scheme. After the application, technical approval is taken from the concerned electricity distribution company. After completion of installation and inspection, the subsidy is deposited directly into the bank account. Apart from this, to avail the benefit of this scheme, the applicant should have his own house, whose roof should be suitable for installing solar panels, while the house should have a solid electricity connection.
