Amidst the ongoing war with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has thanked PM Narendra Modi. Describing PM Modi as his staunch friend, he said that he thanked India for standing with Israel during this time.
In a post on social media platform X on Monday (March 2, 2026), Prime Minister Modi had said that he had talked to Netanyahu on the recent situation. Benjamin Netanyahu had arrived on Monday to take stock of Beit Shemesh, where nine people lost their lives in an Iranian ballistic missile attack. While talking to journalists here, he mentioned PM Modi’s phone call and said that he is also in touch with leaders of other countries.
He said, ‘I have spoken to my friend, PM Narendra Modi. I had a long conversation with him, I thank him and India for standing with Israel and the Jews at this time. Netanyahu also said that he would not tell what they talked about on the phone, but yes, they talked. PM Modi had said in his post that he conveyed India’s concern over the recent situation to Netanyahu and stressed that the safety of citizens should be paramount.
During this, Benjamin Netanyahu also said that Iran’s nuclear and missile program is a threat to the entire world and the purpose of the Israeli army’s action is to protect not only Israel but the entire world.
Netanyahu said, ‘This is the third day of Operation Roaring Lion. The Israeli army and the Israeli government, together with our friend America and President Trump, have launched this campaign to destroy the existential threat to Israel and the major threats to America and the entire world.
Netanyahu said that Iran’s threats are not limited to Israel and America, but have also spread to Europe and other regions. Pointing to Iran’s attack on a British military base in Cyprus, he said, ‘They are saying loudly – Down with Israel, Down with America. This is their ultimate goal, but I had said that they will also target those who come in between. They will also target Europe and they did.
He said, ‘If this terrorist regime… acquires nuclear weapons and the means to use them, ballistic and intercontinental ballistic missiles, it will threaten the entire world, so we have resolved to protect ourselves, but in doing so, we are also protecting others.’
