What is Garia Puja?

Garia Pooja is one of the important festivals of Tripura, which is celebrated every year on the seventh day of Baisakh month. The worship starts from the last day of the month of Chaitra and ends on the seventh day of Baisakh month. During this time, people gather in temples and worship the statue of Baba Garia made of bamboo.

Rice, alcohol, earthen pots, points of clothes etc. are used in Garia Puja. People sing and dance traditional songs with drums. Devotees pray to Garia Baba for the yield of good crops. It is also a symbol of prosperity and prosperity.

April Bank holiday

  • April 26 is the fourth Saturday of the month, due to which banks will remain closed across the country. On this day, there will also be a holiday for Gauri Puja in some places.
  • April 29 is Parashuram Jayanti, due to which banks will be closed in Himachal Pradesh on this day.
  • On April 30, banks will be closed in Karnataka on the occasion of Basav Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya.
