On the basis of this stormy century by Allen, New Zealand won the match by scoring 173 runs at the loss of 1 wicket in 12.5 overs and made it to the final.

At that time New Zealand had made it to the finals by defeating England. In the final against Australia, the team captained by Kane Williamson, batting first, scored 172 runs for 4 wickets. Australia, captained by Aaron Finch, won the match by 8 wickets by scoring 173 runs for 2 wickets in 18.5 overs, thanks to David Warner’s 53 runs and Mitchell Marsh’s 77 runs and won their first T20 World Cup title.
