Pakistan is already struggling with economic and political difficulties, but now the huge increase in fuel prices has increased the problems of the common people. After the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the Government of Pakistan has simultaneously increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by 55 Pakistani rupees per liter. This increase is so much that for the first time in the country, prices have been increased by about 20 percent in one go. After this decision, both anger and concern have increased among the people in Pakistan.
People surprised to hear the new prices
Talking about the new prices, the price of high-speed diesel in Pakistan was earlier 280.86 Pakistani rupees per liter, which has now increased to 335.86 rupees per liter. That means there has been an increase of about 20 percent in one go. Whereas the price of petrol has increased from Rs 266.17 per liter to Rs 321.17 per liter. This is an increase of approximately 17 percent. Such a huge increase may make driving difficult for common people.
Impact of Iran war on Pakistan
According to Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik, this problem is not only Pakistan’s, but it is the effect of an international crisis. He said that the ongoing tension in the Middle East and the increasing war between Iran, America and Israel have affected the oil supply. Pakistan is heavily dependent on the Strait of Hormuz route for its oil. In the current situation, the danger on this route has increased, due to which both the supply and price of oil have been affected. An increase of 50 to 70 percent is being seen in the prices of crude oil in the international market. For this reason, the Pakistan government has also had to increase the prices of petrol and diesel.
Growing concern and resentment in Pakistan
According to media reports, there is an atmosphere of fear and despair among the people in Pakistan after this decision. Long queues are being seen at petrol pumps at many places. People are trying to fill petrol as soon as possible, because they fear that the prices may increase further in the future. Let us tell you that according to the data of 2024-2025, there are about 1.7 crore two-wheelers and about 70 lakh cars in Pakistan. In such a situation, the increase in the price of petrol and diesel can directly impact crores of vehicle owners.
