‘Garbage on the road, no water in the washroom’, Center seeks reply from Mamata government on lapses during President’s visit

The matter regarding the alleged lapse regarding the President’s program in Bengal is not coming to an end. Amidst the round of allegations and counter-allegations regarding President Draupadi Murmu’s visit to West Bengal, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan has sought a report from the state Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty.

According to sources, the Union Home Secretary has told four things. Why were the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police not present to receive and see off the President? There was no water in the washroom built for the President. The route chosen by the administration was full of garbage. District Magistrate of Darjeeling, Police Commissioner of Siliguri and Additional District Magistrate are responsible for this. What action has been taken against him?

Union Home Secretary asked for reply by 5 pm

The Union Home Secretary has sought a reply on this by 5 pm. This conflict between the Center and the TMC government has taken place regarding the visit of President Murmu. BJP alleges that Mamata Banerjee’s state government insulted the President. Banerjee accused Bengal’s main opposition party BJP of misusing the country’s biggest post.

The President had expressed surprise at the absence of the CM.

Earlier, President Murmu had expressed his displeasure over the program held in Bengal. He had expressed surprise as to why the Chief Minister did not meet him during his visit? Apart from this, he had said that usually when the President is coming, the Chief Minister should welcome him. Other ministers should also be present. But she did not come. The governor has changed. Couldn’t come. But because the date was fixed, I have come.

Apart from this, the President also raised questions on changing the venue of the program. He said that today’s program is being held at a place where it is difficult for people to come. Perhaps the state government does not want the welfare of the tribals. That’s why he was stopped from coming here. Mamta Banerjee is like my younger sister. I am also a daughter of Bengal. I don’t know whether he is upset or not. So the place changed. Well it doesn’t matter. You all stay well.

Why has the controversy arisen?

President Draupadi Murmu had come to West Bengal to attend the 9th International Santhali Conclave. Expressed displeasure over changing the venue of the program here and for any minister of Bengal government attending the program. Within no time the whole matter took a political colour. BJP leaders including PM Modi and many Union ministers made serious allegations against TMC.

CM Mamata Banerjee strongly criticized BJP regarding this attack on TMC and her government. He hit back and linked it to the Modi-led BJP’s aggressive campaign ahead of state elections in two months.
