Abdul Razzaq on Spot Fixing Scandal 2010: Former Pakistan cricket team all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has revealed the whole truth about the spot-fixing scandal of 2010. He told how the team management got information about the fixing case for the first time during the Pakistan team’s tour to England. Razzaq also revealed that when Mohammad Aamir lied about not being involved in the fixing scandal, Shahid Afridi had slapped him.

Secret revealed through mobile phone

While discussing a Pakistani TV show, Abdul Razzaq told that one of his friends used to do part-time mobile repairing work in London. Mazhar Majeed, a bookie and the main accused in the spot fixing scandal, had come to the same mobile repairing shop to get his phone repaired.

Abdul Razzaq told, “When my friend repaired Mazhar Majeed’s phone, he read the messages of Mazhar Majeed and three players in which there was talk of spot-fixing in the match.” In these messages, a plan was made to fix the Lord’s Test with three players of the Pakistan team. That friend had shared information about this plan with Abdul Razzaq.

These 3 cricketers were Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamir and Mohammad Asif. On the other hand, Mazhar Majeed was jailed after being found guilty.

Afridi slapped Aamir

In August 2010, he left the captaincy of the Test team before the Pakistan vs England Test series, but remained the captain of the white ball team. Abdul Razzaq revealed that Shahid Afridi called Mohammad Aamir, who was 18 years old at that time, to his room and asked him to wait outside the room.

Razzaq told that he could clearly hear that Afridi was scolding Aamir. Afridi repeatedly asked him to tell the truth but Aamir kept denying his involvement in fixing every time. Razzaq told that when this happened, Afridi slapped Aamir hard, after which Aamir cried and admitted all his mistakes.

The former Pakistan all-rounder also told that some senior players had tried to suppress the matter. According to him, some senior players had advised that before the matter reaches the ICC, a fine should be imposed on all three players and disciplinary action should be taken and the players should be sent home.
