In view of the possibility of international supply of petroleum products being affected due to the ongoing war and tense situation in the Middle East, Bihar Police Headquarters has issued strict guidelines to the DMs and SPs of all the districts. Clear instructions have been given by the headquarters that special vigilance should be taken to ensure the supply of LPG gas, petrol and diesel and strict action should be taken immediately against those involved in hoarding and black marketing.
In the letter issued by the headquarters on Tuesday (March 10, 2026), it has been said that in the current global circumstances there may be a reduction in the supply of petroleum products. Due to this, there is a possibility of shortage of LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel in the state. In such a situation, crowd of common citizens may increase at gas agencies, petrol pumps and vendors, which may create chaos or law and order problems. Also some anti-social elements may indulge in hoarding and black marketing.
Appropriate police forces should be deployed for law and order
All DMs and SPs have been asked to keep a constant vigil around gas agencies, petrol pumps and vendors in their respective districts. Appropriate police forces should be deployed to maintain law and order. Special vigil should be kept on hoarders and black marketeers and strict action should be ensured as per rules.
The headquarters has also directed that the district administration should coordinate with the supply department and, if necessary, inform the public about the situation. This will prevent the spread of rumors and there will be no unnecessary panic among the public.

‘This instruction is part of anticipated preparations’
A senior Bihar Police official said that these instructions are part of the anticipated preparation. Globally, due to increasing tension in the Middle East, crude oil prices are fluctuating, which may impact the country’s petroleum supply. The demand for petroleum products is already high in Bihar, hence in such a situation the possibility of hoarding increases.
Police have ordered to increase additional patrolling around petrol pumps and gas agencies in all the districts. Also, instructions have been given to the Intelligence Department to take immediate action as soon as information about hoarding is received. Cases of black marketing have come to light many times in Bihar during the shortage of petrol and diesel, hence this time pre-vigilance is being taken.
