US President Donald Trump made a big announcement on Tuesday. He said that a new oil refinery worth $300 billion (about Rs 25 lakh crore) will be built in Brownsville, Texas. This will be the first new oil refinery in America in the last 50 years. Trump described the project as ‘the biggest deal in American history’ and thanked India’s partners, especially Reliance Industries, for their ‘big investment’.

Trump posted on Truth Social, saying, ‘America is returning to true energy dominance! Today I’m proud that America First Refining is opening the first new US oil refinery in 50 years in Brownsville, Texas. This is a historic deal of 300 billion dollars. This is also the biggest deal in American history. This is a huge win for American workers, energy, and the people of South Texas! Thank you to our India partners and their largest private energy company Reliance for this wonderful investment.
Trump will build the world’s cleanest refinery
Trump said that this refinery will be built in Brownsville Port. It will fuel the American market, strengthen national security, increase American energy production, power global exports and bring thousands of jobs to South Texas. He claimed that this would be the cleanest refinery in the world.
According to reports, this project is under America First Refining. However, whether the amount of $300 billion is only for the refinery or a part of the bigger India deal, it is not completely clear yet. At some places it was said that this could be ground breaking in the second quarter of 2026.
Important part of Reliance’s investment deal
This announcement has come at a time when global oil supply is under threat due to the ongoing war with Iran. Oil prices are going up and down due to tension in the Strait of Hormuz. Under Trump’s America First policy, permits were simplified and taxes were reduced, due to which such big investments are coming back to America. Reliance’s investment is an important part of this deal, which further strengthens the India-US energy tie-up.
