At present, salary of accountants in Uttar Pradesh is given on the basis of 7th Pay Commission. This post comes in Level-1 pay band in the state.
According to this, the basic salary of an accountant is around Rs 21,700. But in a government job, there is not only basic salary, along with it many types of allowances are also available. These allowances include benefits like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Traveling Allowance (TA). This is why when all these allowances are added, the total salary of the accountant increases.

If we talk about total salary, then an accountant gets in-hand salary of around Rs 30,000 to 35,000 every month. However, this amount is not the same everywhere. There may also be some difference depending on the district or city in which the employee is posted. Apart from this, as experience increases, the salary also increases gradually.
Why is the work of an accountant considered important?
Lekhpal has to do many important works related to land at the village level. This post is responsible for many tasks like maintaining information about farms, maintaining land records, preparing reports related to government schemes and helping the revenue department.

What qualification is required to become an accountant?
Talking about educational qualification, the candidate must have passed 12th (Intermediate) from a recognized board. That means students who have passed Intermediate can apply for this recruitment. Apart from this, the candidate has to pass the PET (Preliminary Eligibility Test) examination of UPSSSC. This examination is conducted by Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission. Without passing PET, a candidate cannot apply for Lekhpal recruitment.
What can change with the 8th Pay Commission?
According to reports, if the fitment factor in the 8th Pay Commission is kept at 2.5 or more, then there may be a big change in the basic salary of the employees. If the current basic salary of an accountant is Rs 21,700, then it can increase to around Rs 54,000 to Rs 57,000. At the same time, when the basic salary increases, all the allowances along with it are also affected. Dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other benefits also increase accordingly.
