New English book named Kaveri came out

NCERT has named the new English book of class 8 as Kaveri. This book will replace the two English books already being taught, Beehive and Moments. The new book has been prepared on the basis of National Education Policy 2020 and National School Education Curriculum Framework. The book begins with a story taken from Rajya Sabha MP and author Sudha Murthy’s book How I Taught My Grandmother to Read and Other Stories, published in 2004. In this story he has shared his childhood memories and the experience of teaching his grandmother to read. According to officials, earlier two English books were taught for Class 9, which included a total of 29 lessons. Of these, 15 texts were by foreign authors. Now in the new system the number of books has been reduced to one and the total number of lessons has also been reduced from 29 to 16. In the new book, almost equal space has been given to the works of Indian and foreign writers, but the presence of Indian writers is more visible than before.
