Char Dham Yatra: Char Dham Yatra is going to start from 19th April. Preparations for this annual pilgrimage to the Himalayas are already underway. Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government has taken several steps to manage the pilgrims coming this year. An important decision has been taken regarding entry into the temple premises. In fact, the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee has announced that non-Hindus will not be allowed to enter some temples during the pilgrimage. In the meantime, let us know whether restrictions will be imposed on those who follow Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism also or not.
Ban on entry of non-Hindus in temple premises
The temple committee has decided that during the coming pilgrimage season, non-Hindus will not be allowed inside the premises of two big temples, Kedarnath temple and Badrinath temple. This rule is not limited to just these two temples. According to Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, this will also be applicable to about 45 more temples under its administrative control in the entire area. According to temple officials, its purpose is to maintain the religious sanctity of religious places.
Will people of Buddhist, Sikh and Jain religions not get entry?
Despite the ban on non-Hindus, this ban will not have any effect on those following Sikh, Jain and Buddhist religions. The BKTC President said that under Article 25 of the Constitution of India, these religions are considered as part of a larger definition of Hindu traditions in certain legal and cultural matters. That means people following these religions have been kept out of this ban.

The temple authorities are planning to implement this rule on about 47 to 50 temples managed by the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee. However, in some places this decision has already been formally approved. But negotiations are still going on for some temples. The committee that manages Gangotri temple has already passed a resolution supporting this rule.
Temple opening date for Char Dham Yatra
Char Dham pilgrimage will officially start on 19th April. From this date the doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri temples will open for devotees. Kedarnath temple will open after 3 days on 22nd April. After this Badrinath temple will open on 23rd April.
