Which Gulf Country Has the Youngest Mothers: Gulf countries are currently standing on the brink of a big war. If a long war is fought between Iran and America-Israel, then these countries may also have to face economic losses. There has been a continuous decline in the birth rate and fertility rate in the Gulf countries during the last few decades. According to recently revealed data, family size is gradually becoming smaller in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the average number of children given birth by women is also decreasing. Experts believe that increasing level of education, urbanization, increasing participation of women and increasing cost of living are the main reasons for this.
Why is the fertility rate decreasing?
According to a study, between 1980 and 2021, there has been a clear decline in the total fertility rate in six major countries of the Gulf region, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This rate reflects the average number of children a woman gives birth to in her lifetime. According to the new data, between 2001 and 2021, an average of 2.22 children per woman were recorded in Bahrain, 2.34 in Kuwait, 2.98 in Oman, 2.21 in Qatar, 2.94 in Saudi Arabia and 1.84 in the United Arab Emirates. It is clear from these figures that the fertility rate is still relatively high in Oman and Saudi Arabia, whereas it was found to be the lowest in the United Arab Emirates.

If compared with old figures, the decline is even more pronounced. Between 1980 and 2000, the average number of children per woman was 3.73 in Bahrain, 3.69 in Kuwait, 6.39 in Oman, 4.21 in Qatar, 5.78 in Saudi Arabia and 4.34 in the UAE. That means, in the last four decades, the number of children in all these countries has decreased significantly. Experts say that there are many social and economic reasons behind this change. Due to expansion of higher education, increasing participation of women in employment, urban lifestyle and increasing cost of running a family, people have now started postponing the planning of marriage and child. This is the reason why the trend of decline in fertility rate is visible in the entire Gulf region.
In which Gulf country do women become mothers at the youngest age?
According to the information available on the internet, women in Oman become mothers at a relatively young age. Here, due to early marriage and family traditions, the average age of becoming a mother is also lower than in other Gulf countries. However, according to the National Library of Medicine report, the age at which women have their first child in Oman is now gradually increasing and in many cases it is happening at the age of 35 years or older. A major reason behind this is the increasing average age of marriage. According to statistics, while the average marriage age of women in 1988 was around 19.2 years, by 2008 it increased to around 26.8 years. Due to this change, the age of becoming a mother for the first time is also moving forward.
