The Election Commission of India will announce the dates of assembly elections in 5 states on Sunday (March 15) evening. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has given a sharp reaction to the announcement of the election schedule. He said that the press conference of the Election Commission could probably be held in the BJP office.

He has said that today’s Election Commission is an extended branch of BJP. We will not be surprised if the Election Commission holds its press conference at BJP’s Delhi headquarters. We do not trust this Election Commission. These are people working for BJP. The entire Election Commission works under the pressure of BJP.

Election Commission called a press conference

Elections are to be held in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry. The Election Commission has called a press conference at 4 pm to announce the program. The tenure of these assemblies is ending on different dates in May and June.

The final voter lists of four states and the Union Territory of Puducherry have been published under the Special Intensive Revision of Voters List (SIR). The states and union territories where assembly elections are to be held include Assam and Puducherry.

Tenure is ending in these states

Last time assembly elections were held in West Bengal in 8 phases. On March 2, 2021, the Election Commission had issued a notification. After this, voting was held in the first phase on 27 March, in the second phase on 1 April, in the third phase on 6 April, in the fourth phase on 10 April, in the 5th phase on 17 April, in the 6th phase on 22 April, in the 7th phase on 26 April and in the 8th phase on 29 April.

Assembly elections were announced on 2 May, in which TMC was again victorious. There are 294 assembly seats in Bengal. Election notification for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly was last issued on March 12, 2021.

Voting was held in a single phase in the state on April 6. Voting took place on the same day for the 140-member Kerala Assembly and the 30-member Puducherry Assembly. In 2021, elections were conducted in three phases in Assam.
