Assembly elections are going to be held in five states in the coming days and preparations for this have also intensified. Election Commission of India has announced the elections of five states in a press conference at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today at 4 pm. As soon as the news of elections came out, an important question started arising in the minds of many new voters that if their name is not yet in the voter list.

So will he be able to vote in this election or not? In fact, before every election, a large number of people try to get their names added to the voter list. In such a situation, the question is arising that what are the rules for adding names to the voter list after the announcement of election dates.

When will assembly elections be held in which states?

This time assembly elections are going to be held in five states of the country. These include Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. According to the election schedule, voting will be held first in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry on April 9. Voting will be held on the seats of these three states on the same day. After this, voting will take place in Tamil Nadu on 23 April.

Whereas in West Bengal, elections will be conducted in two phases. Here the first phase will be held on 23rd April and the second phase will be held on 29th April. Voting will be held on a total of 294 seats in West Bengal. After the entire election process is over, the results of all these states will be declared simultaneously on May 4, 2026. This will decide whose government will be formed in which state for the next five years.

Can the name still be added to the voter list?

Now the question is that if a person’s name is not yet in the voter list. So can he get it connected now? According to the rules of the Election Commission, when the election dates are officially announced and the final voter list is released. So after that new entries are generally stopped. That means voting is done on the basis of the same last voter list. However, those who have already applied and whose verification is pending. His name can be included in the list.

Therefore, if a person has completed 18 years of age and wants to vote. So he should apply well before the elections. For this, application can be made through the voter portal of the Election Commission of India or the nearest election office. This increases the possibility of getting your name added to the voter list in time.
