How to apply online?

In today’s time, the easiest way to get a new Voter ID card is to apply online. For this you have to go to the voter portal of the Election Commission of India or the website of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state. There one has to apply for new voter registration and the most important form for this is Form 6.

Online Application Process:

  • First of all go to the Election Commission website or voter portal.
  • Select “New Voter Registration” option there.
  • After this fill Form 6.
  • Enter your date of birth, address and citizenship information.
  • Upload Aadhar Card or other documents.
  • After submitting the form, the verification process starts.

Can you apply offline also?

If a person does not have internet access. So he can apply for Voter ID Card through offline also. For this one has to go to the nearest election office and fill the form. There also you have to submit the same Form 6.

Documents required for application:

  • Aadhar card or other identity card.
  • Driving license or student ID card.
  • Ration card or bank passbook.
  • Proof of address like electricity, water or gas bill.

After submitting the form, the booth level officer comes to your address and checks the information. If all the information is found correct, your Voter ID card is sent to your address through post after some time.
