You can cast your vote even if you don’t have a voter ID.
According to the Election Commission, Voter ID card i.e. EPIC is considered to be the most common and valid identity card for voting. However, if for some reason it is not available then the voter can prove his identity with the help of other valid documents and cast his vote. At the polling station, officials verify the voter’s identity on the basis of documents. If the name is present in the voter list and the identity card is valid then the voter is allowed to vote.
Which documents are valid identity cards?
If you do not have a voter ID card, then you can use passport, driving license, Aadhar card, PAN card, bank or post office passbook with photo, service ID card with photo of a government employee, smart card issued under NPR, MNREGA job card, health insurance smart card issued by the Labor Ministry, pension document with photo, official identity card of MP, MLA or Legislative Council member. By showing any one of these original documents at the polling booth, the voter can prove his identity and cast his vote.
Photo voter slip will not give rights
The Election Commission has made it clear that mere photo voter slip is not accepted as identity card. This slip is for information only and it is necessary to have a valid identity card with it at the time of voting.
