Who was Pope Francis?
The full name of Pope Francis was Horge Mario Bergolio. He was born on 17 December 1936, Buenos Aires, Argentina. They were selected for the Pope on 13 March 2013. The Pope was earlier identified by the Latin American Pope, he was the first Pope of the Jesuit sect. Pope Francis is known for his simplicity and humility. He always played an important role in becoming the voice of the poor and marginalized people.

1. Dedication to the poor- ‘The church should go among the poor, not just in the corridors of power.’ Pope Francis repeatedly emphasized that the priority of the church should be the service of the poor and the needy.

2. Environment Guard- He released a document called Laudato SI, in which the protection of the environment was called a religious duty. ‘Earth is our common mother, and her is the religion of all of us.’

3. No hatred in the name of religion- Pope Francis promoted dialogue with Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and Hindu communities. ‘True religion teaches unity, not hate.’

4. Balance in traditional trend- He did not fully denote the traditions of the Catholic Church, but they added compassion and practicality according to time.

Even though Pope Francis never came to India, his affection and concern towards India was always reflected. He maintained a close dialogue with several representatives of the Indian Catholic Church. He advocated social harmony, religious tolerance, and human rights in India.
