The Taliban government of Afghanistan has made a big allegation that Pakistan carried out an air strike on a big drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul on Monday night, in which at least 400 people were killed and 250 were injured. This explosion was very terrible. The flames from this fire were visible several kilometers away, while Pakistan has distanced itself from it.
What allegations did Taliban make against Pakistan?
Taliban deputy spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat said the attack took place at 9 pm (local time) on Monday night, targeting Omid, a 2,000-bed hospital treating drug addicts. Large parts of the hospital were destroyed, a fire broke out and rescue teams are still evacuating people. Taliban says that this attack was on civilians and there was huge loss of life and property. He has called it a violation of human rights.
How did Pakistan respond to Taliban’s allegations?
Pakistan has termed these claims of Taliban as completely false and misleading. Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that Pakistani forces targeted only the hideouts of militants, which included technical equipment and ammunition storage of Afghan, Taliban and Pakistani Taliban (TTP) militants. These bases were in Kabul and Nangarhar, which were being used for attacks in Pakistan. Pakistan clearly said that there was no civilian damage and Taliban was spreading this lie to hide cross-border terrorism. No further comment has been received from Pakistani Military yet as it was outside office hours.
Why fight between two Islamic countries?
This attack is part of the ongoing tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which has intensified since last month. Pakistan alleges that Kabul is providing shelter to militant groups like TTP, which carry out attacks in Pakistan. The Taliban denies these allegations. Mediation by countries like China has also failed in this matter.
