The type of license will be decided according to the business
Now the process of obtaining license for food business has been clearly divided on the basis of turnover of the business. So that it becomes easier for businessmen to understand. If someone’s annual turnover is up to Rs 1.5 crore, then he will have to work under basic registration only. Which is considered to be the simplest process.
At the same time, those whose turnover increases from Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 50 crore will be required to obtain a state level license. Apart from this, big businesses with a turnover of more than Rs 50 crore will have to obtain a central license. Which is applicable for large scale operations.
Rules became easier for street vendors
Small businessmen selling food items on the roadside have also got a big relief. Under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, vendors who are already registered with the Municipal Corporation or Town Vending Committee will no longer be required to register separately with FSSAI. Such vendors will be considered registered vendors. Due to which their work will become easier and they will get relief from paper process.
