India Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar: Indian cricket team’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar has made a special demand before BCCI that his tenure should be extended. These rumors had created a sensation recently, but now BCCI has completely rejected all these rumors. According to the rules, a person can remain on the post of Chief Selector for four years and Agarkar has just completed 3 years of holding this post.
Ajit Agarkar took over as the chief selector of Team India in the year 2023 and during his tenure as chief selector, India has won the title of 2024 T20 World Cup, 2025 Champions Trophy and 2026 T20 World Cup. Agarkar’s contract will end after September this year.
According to news agency PTI, BCCI source said that Ajit Agarkar’s contract is till September this year. After that Agarkar and the BCCI Secretary will discuss whether Agarkar’s tenure as Chief Selector should be extended till the ODI World Cup next year or not.
Currently, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar includes Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra and Pragyan Ojha. The 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup is still about a year away, but there are 20 names that have already been finalized and all five selectors will be keeping a close eye on them.
It is expected that all these selectors will keep a close eye on the matches being held at different places in IPL. Ajit Agarkar comes from Mumbai, while Das Das comes from Kolkata. RP Singh and Ajay Ratra are eyeing the matches to be held in North India and Pragyan Ojha can handle the Bengaluru and Hyderabad locations. IPL 2026 is starting from 28th March.
