The tension created after the murder of Tarun Kumar (26) on the day of Holi in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar still persists. What started as a small incident with a balloon turned out to be so horrific that a soldier lost his life and the area started taking on a communal colour. Meanwhile, after inflammatory posts and threats like ‘Khoon Ki Holi will be played on Eid’ went viral on social media, Delhi Police has made tight security arrangements and the Delhi High Court has also directed the Delhi Police to keep additional security not only on Eid but till Ram Navami.
After which now Delhi Police has deployed riot-control force, monitoring through drone-CCTV, Aadhaar checking at every entry-exit and flag march is being conducted. During the investigation, the cyber wing of Delhi Police had come to know that in view of Ramzan and regarding the Uttam Nagar Holi massacre, many inflammatory posts and spoiling the atmosphere of Delhi and the country are being made viral on social media, after which legal action has been taken on 128 such social media posts and they have been blocked.
strict police surveillance on the streets
In such a situation, when ABP News team reached Uttam Nagar Hastal area, strict police patrol was seen on the roads. While talking to ABP News, the local people made it clear that some people from outside and social media influencers are trying to spoil the atmosphere, but the old Hindus and Muslims living here are united and will celebrate Eid peacefully.
Claim to have the environment under control
A senior Delhi Police officer said, “The atmosphere is under control. Flag march is being taken out, strict action is being taken against rumours. There is no need for anyone to panic. Delhi Police is doing its work with promptness. Local resident Syed Faraz, who has lived here for decades, told ABP News, “The atmosphere has been fine for the last few days for Eid. But the workers who lived here returned to their villages due to fear, but we are local and we will celebrate Eid tomorrow better than before.”
One mistake made such a big deal
Rameshwar Dayal emotionally told ABP, “This is not a Hindu-Muslim fight. A small matter of a balloon has been made big. It was like a lockdown here for five days, but now everything is fine and here tomorrow Namaz will be held, Eid will be celebrated and we will also hug. The police has fully cooperated. I have lived here for 55-60 years but such a thing has never happened. This Muslim brother is in front of me, I consider him my nephew. At his shop. I am standing.” Everything is very good here and we have and will always have brotherhood among ourselves.
Another resident, Sameer, praised the Delhi Police and said, “We have never seen so many police. They are deployed even on the rooftops of our houses. Their duty will start from 4 am in the morning. Anyone creating a ruckus will be brought inside. Hindus and Muslims are all brothers here. Jai Hind!”
Good move to stop outsider
Along with this, residents Shadab and Sameer said that the checking of Aadhaar card is correct, “It is a good step so that outsiders do not enter. There is police at every corner, everything is fine here, “We celebrate Eid together every year, the same will happen this time also. Some people from outside went away shouting slogans, but shops are running here, everyone is doing business with each other. Some anti-social elements could cause harm, hence it is necessary for the police to be present here. But it is also true that some people got scared and went to the village and some people also suffered losses. But we will stay here ‘Jai Hind’.
