Sainik schools in India have always been known for discipline, patriotism and strong physical training. The students studying here were specially prepared to become officers in the army, but with time the world is changing and now not only the power of weapons but also the power of technology has become very important. In view of this change, now a plan is being made to make major changes in the syllabus of Sainik Schools.
A high level panel of the Government and the Defense Ministry has suggested that education in Sainik Schools should now be made more comprehensive and modern. Its objective is that the students studying here are not limited to joining the army only, but they can also make their career in technology and other fields.
Why is change in syllabus necessary?
In today’s time, the method of war and security has completely changed. Now only guns and soldiers are not enough, but it has become equally important to deal with cyber attacks, data theft and digital threats. In such a situation, the country needs such youth who are also expert in technology, that is why now emphasis is being laid on including subjects like coding, cyber security, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data science in military schools. With this, students will be prepared for future challenges.
New career paths will increase for students
Earlier the main goal of Sainik Schools was to prepare students for the National Defense Academy (NDA), but not every student is able to join the army. In such a situation, options for the remaining students remained limited. Now after the new changes, students will have many new career options. They will also be able to work in tech companies, research, data analysis, cyber security and other modern fields. This will make their future more secure and bright.

Sainik School will become Center of Excellence
According to the new plan, Sainik Schools will no longer be seen only as preparation schools for the army, but will be developed as centers of excellence. This means that both the level of education and facilities here will be better. Modern labs, computer centres, coding classes and digital class rooms will be built in schools. This will give students a better opportunity to learn new technologies.
Emphasis on leadership and thinking ability
Not only studies and training, but special attention will also be given to the thinking and understanding ability of the students. They will be prepared in such a way that they can become good leaders in the future. Skills like critical thinking, problem solving ability and teamwork will also be made a part of studies. With this, students will be able to progress in every field. The government has already approved the opening of 100 new Sainik Schools, which will be based on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Modern syllabus will be implemented in these new schools from the very beginning.
