On March 20, the Railway Board issued an official order on this. This amendment will be considered effective from January 1, 2024. Under ‘Kilometerage Allowance’, train running employees like loco pilots and guards will now get more money for every kilometer of train running than before. Let us tell you that when the drivers and guards drive the train while on duty or are on a journey, in addition to their salary, they get paid according to the kilometers covered. Now this rate has been increased to 25 percent.
Similarly, under ‘Allowance in lieu of Kilometers’ (ALK), sometimes the running staff is shifted for training or medical checkup or meeting instead of running the train, then the money they get in lieu of kilometer is called ALK. Now this has also been increased by 25 percent.
The Ministry of Railways has revised the Kilometerage Allowance and Allowance in lieu of Kilometerage ALK for running staff with effect from 01.01.2024 Sincere thanks to @ShivaGopalMish1 & @AshwiniVaishnaw for their efforts and support in making this happen.#KilometerageAllowance pic.twitter.com/5npikdvf7A
