Jaishankar talked to Marco Rubio on oil crisis
Before this, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had talked to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio over phone on Monday (23 March 2026). The two leaders discussed the impact of the Middle East conflict on the global economy, with energy security a major topic. Jaishankar said on social media that in the talks, the effects of the crisis on the international economy were discussed in detail and concerns regarding energy supply were also specifically discussed. Both sides agreed to remain in constant touch to advance mutual priorities.
Jaishankar met ambassadors of Gulf countries
The US State Department in Washington also confirmed the conversation, saying that the two leaders discussed the current situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation. In this sequence, Jaishankar met the ambassadors of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member countries Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait and discussed the regional situation and India’s energy security concerns.
