Big decision of Government of India amid LPG crisis, lakhs of piped gas connections to be installed within 25 days

The government has taken a big step amid the LPG crisis. Rumors of shortage of petrol and diesel have also been rejected and people have been appealed not to pay attention to it. The focus of the government is to promote Piped Natural Gas (PNG). The government has taken several steps to provide PNG connection soon. At the same time, the supply of domestic cooking gas (LPG) will be stopped to the consumers who do not avail it even after having the PNG facility. The government has issued an order regarding this.

‘Given 25 lakh new PNG connections in 25 days’

Giving information, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said that in the last 25 days, 25 lakh new PNG connections have been given. Apart from this, about 22 lakh consumers have switched from LPG to PNG. 25 lakh new applications or registrations have also been received.

‘There is no shortage of LPG’

Regarding LPG, he said that there is no shortage in its supply. Online booking is going well. So far, 22000 tonnes of commercial LPG has been supplied to about 26 states. This quantity also includes the allocation made by the state governments and the quantity given by our oil marketing companies. As a result of all these efforts, approximately 30005 kg cylinders were distributed yesterday (24 March).

Dependence on LPG will reduce

The reason behind this step of the government is to expand the gas network as well as reduce dependence on a single fuel. Due to the war in Western Asia, supplies from major sources there have been affected. To overcome the shortage of LPG, the government is emphasizing on domestic and commercial consumers to opt for PNG. The convenience of PNG is more convenient. LPG is continuously supplied to the burner through the PNG pipeline, thereby eliminating the need for cylinder booking.

Government issued order

In the order issued by the government, it has been said that even after PNG is available, if any family does not adopt it, then the supply of LPG will be stopped after three months. However, where it is not possible to provide pipe connection, LPG supply will continue on the basis of No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Regarding kerosene, the government has made additional allocation to all the state governments as an alternative fuel option. Allocation orders have been issued in about 16 states and union territories. At present, both the government and state governments are making efforts to stop black marketing and hoarding. They are playing an important role in this direction. The role of state governments is important in this regard. On March 24, about 2700 raids were conducted in various states and about 2000 cylinders were seized.
