On the 26th day of the US-Israel-Iran war, US President Donald Trump has sent a 15-point peace plan to Iran. The objective of this plan is to end the war quickly, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and put a strict ban on Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump said that there have been ‘very good and useful’ conversations in the last two days. He has postponed the attack on the power plant on Iran for 5 days so that the 15-point agreement can be discussed further. The plan has been sent to Iran through Pakistan. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself has offered to host the talks and Trump also reshared his post.

What are the main points of Trump’s 15-point plan?

  1. 1 month immediate ceasefire: Attacks from both sides should stop immediately, so that talks can take place.
  2. Never nuclear weapons: Iran should give a written guarantee that it will never make nuclear weapons.
  3. All nuclear capabilities eliminated: Completely destroy or disable Iran’s existing nuclear facilities.
  4. Sending out Uranium Stock: The entire stock of enriched uranium in Iran will have to be sent out of the country (to America or a third country).
  5. Uranium Enrichment Shutdown: Complete cessation of uranium enrichment of any level on Iranian soil.
  6. Fuel facilities outside Iran: If a civilian nuclear program is to be run, the fuel manufacturing facility will remain outside Iran and will be under UN supervision.
  7. Ballistic missile program ends: Destroying Iran’s ballistic missiles and related military infrastructure.
  8. Support for proxy groups discontinued: Stop providing arms and funding to all proxy groups including Hezbollah and Hamas.
  9. Attacks on Israel stopped: Guarantee to stop attacks on Israel by any group including Hezbollah.
  10. Reopening the Strait of Hormuz: To keep the strait completely open and safe for non-enemy ships. Iran can charge transit fees.
  11. Security of American and Israeli ships: Guaranteed safe passage of American and Israeli ships in Hormuz.
  12. Partial relief in restrictions: Some economic restrictions can be lifted, but the relief money should be used only for humanitarian purposes (medicines, food items).
  13. UN monitoring: The entire agreement will be monitored by the United Nations or international agencies.
  14. Possibility of economic cooperation: If the conditions are met, then there is talk of some economic cooperation to get Iran’s economy back on track.
  15. Lasting Peace and Validation: Strict verification mechanisms should be in place to ensure that there are no violations over a long period of time.

Trump claimed that Iran has given a ‘huge gift’ related to oil and gas. US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner may participate in the talks.

Iran’s stance is still tough
Iran has denied any direct talks. Tehran has reiterated its demands…

  • All Gulf bases of America should be closed
  • remove all restrictions
  • full compensation for war damages
  • Israel should stop attacking Hezbollah
  • Iran should have complete control over Hormuz.

Iran said that Trump cheated twice before and will not be caught for the third time.

Iran is appealing to Trump to continue the war

Israeli officials are shocked by Trump’s ceasefire plan. He was appealing to Trump to continue the war. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said today that the army will capture southern Lebanon up to the Litani River and there will be no homes or civilians left in the ‘terrorist area’.

  • Hezbollah fired more than 30 rockets at Haifa and Nahariya, killing one woman.
  • Iran carried out drone attacks on Israeli aerospace factories.
  • Israel continued attacks on Iranian targets including Shiraz Airport.
  • Explosions again at American base in Bahrain.
  • America sent more than 3000 additional troops to the area.

Despite the tension in Hormuz, oil prices decreased slightly due to the news of Trump’s plan, but still remain high. Reliance has purchased 5 million barrels of crude from Iran, taking advantage of the 30-day US exemption. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Trump on phone and appealed for peace in the area and to keep Hormuz open and safe. India is giving priority to its energy security.
