After this incident, the family has demanded from the government that meningitis B vaccine should be made mandatory for all youth. At present this vaccine is given only to small children, due to which many youth remain unprotected from it.
Doctors say that although meningitis occurs in rare cases, when it occurs it can prove to be extremely fatal. Therefore its symptoms should not be ignored.
